One year ago today I got married! For our one-year anniversary, Jym and I decided to visit Amicalola Falls State Park. We packed a lunch, drove about an hour to the park, and spent the day hiking. We hiked to the top of the falls in the picture shown, and it was lovely, though difficult. (The trail has 604 stairs in one section.) The park also has trails that lead to the beginning (or end) of the Appalachian Trail. We only did about 2.5 miles of non-AT trail today, but the weather was great. On the way home, we took a detour to a little town called Ellijay, which, apparently, is famous for apples! We went to a little local diner and had a slice of warm apple pie with vanilla ice-cream. A very lovely day indeed, and who better to spend it with than my favorite person.

Congratulations on your anniversary!
The fantasy dissertation sounds fascinating and, also, potentially highly, highly publishable. If you get a chance, do take a look at the following:

Fantastic little book which may save you a lot of time in post-dissertation days if you read it now - definitely well worth the $0.18 price-tag on a tatty s/h copy!
Thanks for the link -- the book looks great and I will definitely try to get a copy. It would be nice for the dissertation to actually get out to an audience, rather than sitting on a lonely library shelf forever!
